Drawing is a natural skill. Whether you're a beginner or a more experienced artist, this unique course of six weekly sessions, is designed to develop your perception and visual skill.
The energy and spirit of the human form is fundamental, it’s the thread that runs throughout this series. Drawing from a live model is the most direct way I know to learn how to access your innate visual skills which can also be applied to drawing or painting anything. You won't just be learning 'how to' but will be tapping into your unique creativity to respond personally and with meaning to our models.
This series is open to new students starting level 1 and continuing students moving into level 2.
Using music and dynamic drawing exercises it is possible to make an instant connection, bypassing your analytical brain and moving into creative flow. These moments of 'flow' or being 'in the zone' is where the magic happens and drawings emerge without effort. Being in these states enhances a sense of wellbeing and joy that filters into your daily life.
By learning new ways of seeing, your drawing skills develop quickly and easily…
“Knowing the difference between looking and seeing
Seeing with more than just the eyes - Real vision
Seeing the whole picture at once
Seeing into and within
Seeing in and out of focus
Seeing through sensing sound and music
Seeing and expressing movement, energy, feeling, rhythm, relationship, harmony, contrast, repetition, dominance, simplicity, light and tone” Art for Hearts Sake
A little bit about me and why I do this...
I attended the Paddington Art School, directed by Steve Gorton, from 1987 to 1991. After traveling and living overseas, studying and teaching life drawing in Barcelona, I returned to Sydney and worked as a tutor at The Paddington Art School in the late 90's. During this time and into to 2000's I also worked with my dear friend and mentor, artist, teacher and founder of 'Art for Hearts Sake', teaching life drawing. A deep and lasting interest in the teaching/learning process was sparked in me.
For the past 15 years I have been working with primary school children and adults teaching drawing and painting. Life drawing has continued to be an integral element in my work and teaching methods. I have participated in this drawing process for 30 years and have seen hundreds of students awaken to their own creativity and drawing ability.
Come and join me on a joyful creative adventure.
